Public Meetings.

Message from Graham:

Dear friends,

Following advice on the risks involved in bringing people together at the present time, the Lord Mayor has decided to postpone the Civic Inter-Faith Celebration planned for Tuesday 24th March to a later date.  If you have passed on the invitation to others, please try to inform them so that nobody turns up at the Lord Mayor's Chapel expecting the event to be taking place.

Secondly, thanks to those of you who have sent subscriptions for BIFG funds for 2020.  Further contributions (5 for individiuals and 25 for worshiping communities) would be welcome by post to:
BIFG c/o Central Quaker Meeting House.

Possible meeting at a Bristol Mosque on a subject of interest to local Muslims. Graham said he would seek advice from Rizwan Ahmed at the Bristol Muslim Cultural Society.

Midwinter Social
We decided that we didn't have time to organise an event in December or January and that, in any case,
the winter period was not ideal for it. We still hope to arrange a social event for people from all faith (br> communities next spring or summer and invite ideas for a theme or activity.

Civic Inter-Faith Celebration
This is expected to take place next March but Graham said he was not willing to be the lead organiser this time.
A meeting has been arranged for 11.00 a.m. on 20 November with the Lord Mayor, Cllr Jos Clarke, and
Peter Watts to discuss the theme, location and format. All members of the BIFG Committee and the BMFF
Steering Group are invited. We agreed that we were not prepared to pay the standard charge for a room
in the Civic Hall but would prefer the Celebration to take place in a space that is more suitable than
the Lord Mayor's Chapel.

Future of the Yahoo BIFG Group We have been notified that although the Group can continue to provide an e-mail service, the files we hold will
be deleted on 14 December. With Mike Austin's recommendation, we agree that Groups io appears to be a satisfactory
alternative and hope that it will be possible to make the transfer, saving those files that we regard as
necessary for our records.

This led on to a discussion of social media and other ways of advertising our activities more effectively.
We identified means such as: Facebook; Twitter; Instagram; Whatsapp; Meet Up; free newspapers; Bristol 24/7;
in addition to the local press and radio media.

University of Bristol Court The Court meets once a year and consists of representatives from the University and from the City.
One place is allocated to BIFG and BMFF and is currently occupied by Tom Aditya.

P.S. Stephen has offered to set up a replacement BIFG e-Group using softwae called io.
